Acclaimed violinist, vocalist and producer/DJ from Los Angeles makes Nelson debut next Friday May 5. Find more event info & RSVP here.

HÄANA self-describes her sound as “Cinematic Sonic Bass.” Imagine Nordic and Icelandic-tinged melodies, merged with modern production techniques, both digital and analog. You might get something along the lines of Massive Attack, Bjork, or Trentemøller – with additional, progressive electronica influences and synthetic accents. The resulting sonic palate takes listeners on a journey to a crossroads between classical and contemporary, organic & man-made, familiar and mysterious.

If you haven’t caught on yet, let it be clear that this will not be your typical Bloom show. HÄANA incorporates her entrancing violin techniques, as well as her own mesmerizing vocals into the mix – making her show particularly uncommon in the electronic music realm.

A realm that, mind you, she is no stranger to – HÄANA headlined The Living Room Stage at the Shambhala Music Festival in 2015, also stepping in to put forth a cameo collaborative contribution with Oakland’s Dimond Saints on The Grove Stage. She’s also played Lightning In A Bottle, Bass Coast, and Lucidity festivals – not to mention the fact that just earlier this month she made her debut appearance at Coachella on The Do Lab stage, a set for which she actually collaborated with two ballerinas! She even hosted her own TEDx Talk at Burning Man in 2014.

Kicking the year off with support plays at sold-out shows alongside Desert Dwellers and Kayla Scintilla at 1015 Folsom (SF) and Ogden Theater (Denver), HÄANA now looks to the release of her SALT EP through Paper Gold Records in May, with a May/June/July album release tour to follow.

Courtney Smith of Freshclef.com recalls her LiB performance:

“Dressed in a black and gold dress, with a gold cage headpiece, HÄANA sings live, mixes live, and plays the violin live. Her Nordic-inspired tunes, combined with her ethereal voice and the twang of her violin create a uniquely magical sound. The beauty of her music is something that should not be overlooked and is something that everyone needs to experience at least once.”

The Pride proudly presents HÄANA’s Nelson debut next Friday May 5 at Bloom Nightclub inside The Savoy Hotel (198 Baker Street). An impressive cast of supporting artists has been assembled to present her performance in the right light – with Lion-S and Ocea Sasa opening the night, and the trippiest beatslinger around town, Shiny Things, closing it down. Advance tickets are available now at The Falls Music Lounge and online ($10-15).
